Yesterday we brought Lola (aka Suzie Q) at her “first” adoption event since she came living with us. Unfortunately the event wasn’t very successful. Being the Sunday of a long holiday weekend only few dogs were adopted and no one really showed any interest in Lola :( This was our third time at this adoption event location. The first time we went just to talk with the people of the organization about possibly foster a dog, and we went back home with Chester. The second time, a month after, we went with Chester, he was adopted, and we went back home with Lola. For some reasons I thought Lola was going to be adopted since we witnessed such a major change in her. When we first got her she wouldn’t do her business on a leash and didn’t go potty for over 24 hours. Then we figured out she would go without leash, only in the woods (she would take off, do her stuff, and run back). And finally, after two weeks of this Lola now goes potty as soon as we leave the house, goes multiple times at day, on leash, during our walks in the city, no minding cars going around her, and never had a accidents at home (the first day we almost hope for accidents to happen since we were afraid she was going to explode!). Other than successfully going to the potty, Lola is not much less afraid of other dogs and people. And in spite of the fact that she was believed of not being good with other k9s, she is doing just wonderfully with Ophelia. Not only that, we think that being around Ophelia has been a big help for her. Anyway, Lola is just adorable and unbelievably good and it was such a disappointment noticing that people were just going for the puppies. At the same we are very happy to have more time with her, but it is sad that no one stop to pet her her :( Well, in two weeks we’ll bring her to the adoption event in Capitol Hill and we will see…
